5″ Lencore Motor – Community Production Run

The 5″ Lencore motor started as a passion project to create a unique motor option for the Onewheel community. After completing the design and early development work, it became clear that producing this motor as a regular commercial product would push the retail price close to €900, which I believe is unrealistic for this community.

Because of that, I’ve decided not to release it as a normal product.

However, several people have already expressed interest, so I’m offering a very small community production run for those who still want one.

One fully working prototype has already been built, and I currently ride it as my daily board. This production run would be based on that design.

This run will be produced at cost price, meaning there is no profit margin included.

Estimated Price

The estimated final price is approximately €630 per motor.

Because the motors and components are sourced internationally, the final cost can vary slightly due to:

• USD / EUR exchange rate changes

• Import duties and shipping costs

• Final manufacturing costs

To keep things predictable, the maximum final price is capped at €690.

Payment Structure

To secure a spot in the production run, a commitment payment of €600 is required.

The remaining balance will be calculated once the final costs are known and will be invoiced before shipment.

Once production has started, the €600 commitment payment is non-refundable, as the motors will be manufactured specifically for this small batch.

Limited Production

This production run will only happen if enough people commit.

• Minimum: 5 motors

• Maximum: 10 motors

If at least 5 spots are filled, production will begin.
If fewer than 5 commitments are received, all payments will be fully refunded.

Once the maximum of 10 motors is reached, ordering will close.

Order Deadline

The final date to place an order is March 31.

After this date I will be required to charge VAT, which would significantly increase the price. For that reason, this community production run must be finalized before the end of March.

Platform Compatibility

At the moment, axle blocks only exist for the XR platform.

If you want to run this motor on a GT platform, please note:

• GT axle blocks currently only exist as a design

• They have not yet been manufactured or tested

• This may involve additional development risk and cost

Tire Installation

Because of the motor design, the tire must be mounted by assembling the motor inside the tire.

While this is not particularly difficult, it is a bit different from installing a standard hub motor and requires a specific assembly process.

I will publish a step-by-step installation video on the YouTube channel explaining exactly how to do this.

If you prefer, you can also send me your tire and I will mount it for you before shipping the motor.

Warranty & Support

Because these motors are produced at cost price, there is no margin available for a traditional commercial warranty.

However, I will still support the project technically. If issues arise, I will help diagnose and resolve them, and any repairs or replacement parts can be arranged at cost price (no profit).

A Rare Opportunity

This batch is intended for enthusiasts who want to be part of a small development project and own a motor that will likely never be produced at scale.

Because the economics simply don’t work as a normal product, there are currently no plans for future production runs.

Once this batch is completed, this motor may never be made again.
